Welcome! Review Method And Info

Hello,

My name is Mike, aka One Bad Veggie. Recently I've found myself really getting into gourmet Root Beers. Luckily my local markets have quite an abundance of different brands, and decided to try my hand at reviewing some.

My reviewing method goes is simple. After a showing a list of ingredients I'll review the Smell, Head, Flavor, and finally my Overall opinion of the Root Beer.

Smell: In this case I'll be explaining the smell of the drink, both while in bottle and after being poured. Sometimes pouring can cause certain scents to come out, become stronger, or weaken.

Head: Think of beer, doesn't it look so much more appealing when you have a tall frothy head at the top? Well, Root Beer also should have one as well. This is judged both by size and time. The longer the head remains, the better.

Flavor: Obviously the most important part of the review, the taste. Is it too sweet? Not sweet enough? What kind of flavors are apparent? Is there a soft or harsh bite to it? All this is answered here.

Overall: Here I will explain what I did and did not like about the drink, and assign it a letter grade.

My method for reviewing is simple enough. I usually begin by preparing my mug, by placing it in the freezer for 30 minutes to get it nice and chilled. During this time I don't eat, since I don't want any other flavors to corrupt the review. Before actually drinking, I'll eat a saltine cracker, and rinse my mouth out with water, just to make sure that there are no other flavors that would ruin the review.

That's about it for now. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment. This is my first endeavor into tasting, so by no means do I consider myself a professional, and the Overall section of the review is simply opinion.
