Jones Soda Root Beer

Description: "If you're like us, you think to yourself, Come on... do they really believe we'll fall for flashy ad campaigns that cost more than a solid gold private jet? Don't expect to find any of that here - we let what we do speak for itself. At Jones, we're just regular people who make good soda. While we can't promise you more popularity or better hair, if we like your photo, we'll put it on a bottle. Jones Soda, independent since 1996. Your photo. Your Soda. Your brand."

Ingredients: Carbonated Water, Inverted Cane Sugar, Caramel Color, Natural Flavors, Sodium Benzoate, and Potassium Sorbate (As Preservatives), Gum Acacia, Phosphoric Acid, Calcium Disodium EDTA (To Protect Flavor)

Smell: When first opening the bottle, I was presented with a fairly strong smell of anise, which is common in gourmet Root Beer. Not very sweet smelling. Once poured into the mug, the anise smell disappeared, and I was left with what I would consider a very "normal" smelling sweet Root Beer scent.

Head: The head on Jones Root Beer actually surprised me. When I initially poured it, it filled nearly half the mug, and lasted quite a while. Even after finishing the drink, there was still some froth at the bottom of the mug.

Flavor: This is a very normal sweet Root Beer, and very little to complain about its taste. Nothing extra, just a plain Root Beer. However, there was little to no bite at all. In fact, there was so little carbonation, it almost felt flat.

Overall: I find it a little interesting that this is the first Root Beer I'm reviewing. It's simple, it's normal, it's really nothing special. But nothing special doesn't mean bad. With my reviews, I'll be using C as the mid range. Certainly not bad, but not anything to go out of your way to get either. So there you have it.
